7 Days Bwindi Gorilla trekking and Mgahinga Golden monkey
From $2000 per person
Well known for Primatologists, this tour combines Gorillas and Golden monkeys and much more in these two thick forest national parks. Bwindi Impenetrable National park is well known for Gorillas but it’s not the only Gorilla park Uganda has.
Mt. Mgahinga comes in to boost gorillas as well but so common for so many other rare primates as well and of course the mountain climbing plus caves keep it on top list compared to the many National parks in East Africa. Mgahinga national park has very rare species of monkeys, the peaks have unique flora and fauna and in case you are looking at a good place for Primate Walks and 1-day Mountain Hikes, the answer is Mt. Mgahinga National park.
The endangered Golden Monkey is endemic to the Albertine Rift, and Lakato Safaris provides you with a chance to track these unique creatures plus Gorilla Tracking. Until a few years ago, this pretty monkey was common in Rwanda’s Gishwati Forest Reserve, most of which was chopped down by returned refugees in the aftermath of the 1994 genocide and unconfirmed sources indicate that a small population might occur further south in the same country’s Nyungwe Forest National Park. Fortunately, the golden monkey is the numerically dominant primate within this restricted range and a 2003 survey estimated a population of 3,000 – 4,000 in Mgahinga National Park – Uganda.
