Uganda is not only rich in nature and wildlife, but has also an undiscovered, fascinating cultural heritage with distinct historical sites. We have four major kingdoms and well-established chiefdoms in Uganda, all with their own different habits and lifestyles.
During our Uganda cultural tours, you will have a chance to explore and learn about its wide fascinating culture of the various tribes in Uganda.
A visit to the capital city, Kampala, will introduce you to some interesting historical sites and arts, highlighting the magnificent Seven Hills of Buganda such as; Makerere, Old Kampala, Nakasero, Rubaga, Namirembe and Mengo
To the east of Uganda, marvel at the Source of the Nile where Speke discovered the true origin of the River Nile and in the same area visit various historical cultural sites which will enlighten you on various local traditions.
To the west of Uganda, visit Mbarara, follow the trails of the Banyankole with their culture finalizing with a visit to a local open market for a true cultural fascination. Read more
The Detailed Day to Day Itinerary Cultural and Sight seeing
Itinerary
Upon your arrival, your driver guide will be waiting for you. Have a short briefing, transfer to your accommodation, check in and relax from jet lag. Dinner and over night at Forest Cottages
Our first day after breakfast, we start to explore more about Uganda’s history and its people. Visit Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, take a deep breath and look back to the place where the saints were burnt while alive. A lot is to be told about this holy place. Then transfer to Bahai temple for yet another religious sighting, it being the only temple in the whole continent for the Bahai Faith. Visit the independence monument for a few minutes, have memory photos taken as your guide explains the history behind the symbol of the monument. Have a lunch break and then proceed to the Uganda Museum where you explore the history of Uganda; its political, economical and social structure setup. Also visit the kabaka’s palace, for a more detailed encounter with the Buganda culture this being the strongest present kingdom in Uganda. Here, you will visit the torture chambers of Iddi Amin Dada which is part of the palace. Dinner and over night at hotel
Early pick up from your overnight place (07:00am), then we will drive to Jinja – 80km, have a stopover at the mighty Ssezibwa falls, your guide will explain to you the secrets behind the formation of the falls and more about traditional coronation of Buganda kings (Kabaka). After the one-hour pause of the journey, we shall head for Jinja town and thereafter embark on the boat safari, head for the source of the River Nile. Have a lunch break and visit the local community (the highlight being the Kyabazinga Palace) where we will visit the royal home of the current Kyabazinga (King of Busoga). Then return to Kampala. After breakfast, we drive to the western part of Uganda - Mbarara which hosts the Ankole kingdom with various clans. We shall have a cultural performance from one of the local cultural troupes from the community. If time permits, a visit to a local farm for the long horned Ankole cattle experience. Lunch at the Igongo cultural center, visit the eclipse monument and then we head back to Kampala with a stopover at the Equator for photography.
Depending on your time of departure, if it’s in the evening or late night, we shall be able to visit some of the places in the city that we did not visit on our first day. These include; the Gaddafi mosque, Rubaga Cathedral, Namirembe Cathedral, Kabaka’s Lake with a chance of visiting one of the open markets on the streets of Kampala. Owino or Nakasero market, before we transfer to the air port for departure.
