Wildlife

Uganda boosts over 500 species of wildlife including mammals and with the opening of the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the big five are all here again.

Uganda is also home to more than half the world’s mountain gorillas, and viewing them in their natural environment is one of the main attractions for visitors. On top of this, Uganda has a good number of chimpanzees and there are several places where you can track them.

With well over 1000 species recorded inside its small borders, Uganda is one of the best bird-watching destinations in the world.

Queen Elizabeth National Park offer you a classic African safari experience, the tracks through Kasenyi, the North Kazinga Plains and the Ishasha Sector offer virtually guaranteed buffalo, antelope and elephant sightings, along with warthogs and baboons.

Wildlife

Taking an experienced guide in the early morning or at dusk is the most successful way to track down a pride of lions, and maybe even the odd leopard. While, in Murchison Falls National Park, a game drive around the Buligi game tracks on the northern bank with a trained ranger guide is a fantastic way to see and photograph the wide range of animals in the Nile Valley.

Your guide will have a good idea where the lions are hiding, and you may even spot a leopard at dusk!

The best time for wildlife viewing is in the dry season (December-February and June-September). Some of the roads are impassable during the rainy season (September-November and March- May).

Lakato Safaris has a team of well-trained safari guides able to help you spot all the wildlife around. LET US GUIDE YOU TO THE WILDLIFE.
